Solution to Avery Situation, at the risk of Another Cold War

Published by thisguyrighthere at 2:43 am under Sports Edit This

The Dallas Stars have announced that although Sean Avery has concluded his league imposed 6 game suspension, he will not rejoin the team now, or ever for that matter.  With Avery only being 23 games into a 4 year 15.5 million dollar contract, the Stars are going to have to make a decision on what to do with the much traveled 28 year old forward. They could trade Avery (although right now his trade value is slightly below that of a bag of blade-less skates),  find an AHL team that is willing to take him on for the rest of the year, or let him sit at home and hope he doesn’t get into any trouble of the ice.

How do you say sloppy seconds in Russian?(How do you say sloppy seconds in Russian)

I on the another hand offer another solution.  One that is rather improbable until Gary Bettman realizes that having a rival league in Russia can be a very important asset to the league, granted they work together. That being said, my solution to the Avery Saga would be the Dallas Stars loaning Sean Avery out to a KHL team. This is something that happens in European Soccer all the time,  when one team has a player that is not going to figure into their squad they loan him out to another team so he can get game experience elsewhere.  If the Stars were to do this it would allow them the possibilty of  receiving some money back towards Avery’s salary, as well as allow Avery a chance to get away from the reporters and the cameras and just concentrate on channeling all his tools in to becoming an effective player on the ice.  Not to mention maybe a bit of culture shock would teach Avery a bit on respecting those involved in and around the game (maybe even after the season is done, Avery may be free to rejoin the Stars).  It would be interesting to see how Avery’s antics would be observed in the Russian community, but then again with all thats going on in Iraq and Afghanistan maybe now wouldn’t be a good time to spark up another Cold War.
